How to BOO a Halloween budget

Decorating your house for Halloween can be a fun activity, but also an expensive one - after all, it’s a seasonal billion-pound industry. Whether you just really like Halloween or have children who like to go trick or treating, or have even been given the job to organise the street's Halloween party, here are some of our top tips to do Halloween on a budget.

Make your own

Arts and crafts it! Make your own decorations to customise your surroundings. Whether this is by yourself or with your friends and family, it can be a fun way to celebrate Halloween. With lots of ‘make your own’ tutorials for scary decorations out there on the internet, you won’t fall short of ideas.

The same goes with your costumes. Manufactured costumes are where most of the money goes during Halloween and it’s important to remember that you only wear this once a year, and next year, you’ll probably want to dress up as something else. So, why not DIY your own customers too? Take a look online or a scroll through Pinterest to find the perfect outfit ideas.

Halloween bake off

If you are hosting or are attending a Halloween party this year, a great way minimise spending is to cook your own Halloween-themed food. This could include baking your own cupcakes or making doughnuts based on spooky characters. Options are pretty limitless with what you can do with food on Halloween night, so let your imagination run wild.

If you want a challenge, why not skip buying sweets and make them yourself? It’s an amazing way to surprise your guests, even if it requires some effort and time.

Keep it simple

If you’re hosting a fancy dress party, keep in mind that simple decorations can usually look better, instead of going over the top. There are many ways to keep celebrating Halloween simple, so keep them in mind when planning your party.

This Halloween season may require some planning and creativity, but you may be surprised at how fantastic it could all turn out. Also, after Halloween, why not stock up for next year during the season sales? It’s a great time to catch a bargain.
