Points of Interest: Kingswood

Kingswood is a stunning suburb located not too far from Bristol city centre. It has a rich history dating far back to Saxon and Norman times when the royal Kingswood Forest extended as far as Filwood in South Bristol.

The town rose to prominence in the industrial heyday of the 17th century. This was largely due to coal mining; coal fields stretching across the landscape in Easton and Coalpit Heath were typical scenes and helped to expand and grow the area due to the profits they provided.

Today, Kingswood is home to a population of over 40,000 residents and forms a valued part of South Gloucestershire and Bristol proper. The history of the area is displayed in the wonderful Kingswood Museum, located in a former brass works building. Popular events, such as the Men in Sheds which allows members to experience wood and metal working, are a staple for the history-minded locals and regular visitors.

Those looking for a great day out with the family are well served! Popular local staples include the Magpie Bottom nature reserve and the similar Troopers Hill. There's more for adults too; Kingswood boasts an authentic array of bars and pubs such as the Black Horse and Bank Tavern to relax and talk with friends in.

A lovely town in a beautiful area. It's great news that Everyday Loans is opening a branch in Kingswood, and we look forward to becoming part of its community!
