Field Assurance Officer

Established in 2006, Everyday Loans (ELL) has become a subsidiary of Non-Standard Finance plc when it was acquired by them early in 2016. Everyday Loans offers unsecured personal loans to UK customers through its network of branches across the UK, it’s centralised lending function and it’s guarantor lending divisions, Trusttwo and George Banco.

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role is to conduct second-line of defence, monitoring activity, across the Everyday Loans Branch Network. Provide independent oversight of areas of risk including regulatory compliance, customer outcomes and adherence to policy and procedure. Assessing business processes and risks, and evaluating the status of internal controls will be key deliverables. Provide proactive support and guidance to operational management in relation to identified risks. The position will include responsibility for the appraisal of Area Manager assurance activities, and the execution of Branch Network Field Assurance reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly observations of first-line of defence assurance activities to ensure they adhere to policy and procedure, and promote the delivery of good customer outcomes.
  • Conduct Branch Network Field Assurance reviews in a timely and effective manner, compile subsequent reporting and where appropriate make recommendations for change.
  • Highlight identified issues and manage reporting of actions.
  • Appraise the adequacy of internal controls and systems.
  • Provide feedback to key members of operational management and provide support on identified areas for improvement.
  • Actively share best practice with the Branch Network, and where appropriate, other business areas.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement to the Compliance Assurance Manager.
  • Responsible for the timeliness, accuracy and record keeping of all reporting in respect of Field Assurance activities, and provide reports to the Compliance Assurance Manager.
  • Conduct special projects at the request of the Compliance Assurance Manager / Senior Management in response to emerging business risks.
  • Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Effectively and efficiently complete all duties and responsibilities as assigned and to company standards.

  • First and Second Lines of Defence: Operational Control, Compliance, Operational Risk and Quality Assurance.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and product knowledge of the unsecured credit industry, related risk management, and an understanding of associated Regulatory, Compliance and Risk Management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of conduct risk frameworks and applicable standards, e.g. customer outcomes.
  • Able to self-motivate, with the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Experience of working in an FCA regulated role.
  • Experience of communicating with members of operational management, or the ability to demonstrate confidence in this area.
  • Sound understanding of core regulatory / best practice models.
